Parker University is excited to share that Marisol Gutierrez, a hardworking radiologic technology program student, has received a $4,000 scholarship from the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT)!

Parker University’s Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology

At Parker University, students can earn an associate of applied science through the on-campus degree program. This program provides the knowledge and techniques required to obtain expertise in the unique field of radiologic technology. Students build an understanding of the methods, ethics, and crucial tools for advancement in today’s healthcare landscape. These Parker University graduates often pursue careers as diagnostic radiologic technologists, radiologic technologists, X-ray technologists, and CT technologists.

Ms. Gutierrez’s instructor, Ms. Reed, mentioned joining the ASRT as becoming a member offers many different resources for students and professionals. Ms. Gutierrez says, “I became a member of the ASRT, which opened doors for me with scholarships, education, and job opportunities. As a single mother, it has been a challenge to work, go to school, and attend clinicals, all while having a two-year-old at home. This scholarship helped me afford the program and gave me a bit of ease.”

The mission of the ASRT is to advance and elevate the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession and to enhance the quality and safety of patient care.

Ms. Gutierrez is the recipient of the Royce Osborn Minority Student Scholarship, which was made possible by a grant from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and patron donations.

The ASRT Foundation awarded $422,375 in scholarships for the 2024-2025 academic year, including professional and entry-level awards. Scholarship recipients were selected based on evidence of commitment, leadership, achievement, and financial need.

“This scholarship money helped me prevent taking out another loan for the current semester, which helps greatly. Since I started the program, I’ve felt so buried by financial challenges that there’s no escape or break. This scholarship helped me be a little less behind and allowed me to breathe fresh air and feel optimistic to keep going!” Ms. Gutierrez says.
