Patriot Pantry
Parker's food pantry is available to any student facing food insecurity. This is a nationwide issue, as the College & University Food Bank Alliance reports 30% of college students are food-insecure, 56% of food-insecure students are working, and 75% receive financial aid. Your gift helps keep the Patriot Pantry fully stocked so Parker students who need it can focus on achieving their degree.
Leadership Gifts
Alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations can make gifts that can can be pledged over a period of up to five years. These may be unrestricted or designated for a specific purpose or program, buildings or equipment, and endowments for scholarships or faculty support.
These gifts are established through a written gift agreement between the donor and the university to document the donor’s wishes, pledge terms, and other special details such as naming, recognition, or requests to remain anonymous.
Planned Gifts
There are many ways to give beyond writing a check. Some cost you nothing to give during your lifetime and others can pay you a steady income.
- Bequest Through Your Will: Designating a gift through your estate is the most common form of planned giving. After you have made these plans in your will, please fill out and send us this brief Declaration of Bequest Intent form for our records so we can honor your wishes.
- Retirement Accounts: If you have highly-appreciated assets in an IRA or 401K, you can minimize your income taxes by giving directly from these accounts. You can also donate your Required Minimum Distribution if you don’t need the income, and you can name Parker University as a primary or secondary beneficiary of your retirement account.
- Life Income Gifts: A charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder trust can provide you and your spouse or other beneficiaries with guaranteed income for life or a fixed term. You can also minimize capital gains taxes by funding the annuity or trust with highly-appreciated stock.
Always consult your advisor or a financial services professional when considering a planned gift to any charitable organization.
Other Gifts
Donors can support Parker University in many other ways, including these:
- Appreciated Securities: You can make an annual or leadership gift by donating publicly-traded stock. This can bring significant benefits if the stock is highly-appreciated and subject to large capital gains tax. Click here to use our Stock Gift Form which includes details for your broker to transfer stock to Parker University.
- Matching Gifts: If your employer matches charitable gifts, you could double the impact of your giving (or more). Check with your HR/Benefits office to find out if your company matches employee gifts.
- Gifts-in-Kind: We can accept gifts of intellectual property or tangible, personal property such as artwork, equipment, and furniture. If you are seeking a tax deduction, the IRS requires gifts valued at $5,000 or more to have an independent appraisal, which you would provide before transferring the gift. The university reserves the right to decline gifts that cannot be designated for an appropriate use. Click here to use our Gifts-In-Kind form.
- Anatomical Donations: Donating your body to science provides Parker University students an invaluable educational experience to prepare them for a rewarding healthcare career. Learn more at www.parker.edu/anatomical-donations
