Parker University is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a Future Education Model demonstration program by The Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Health Information Management (CAHIIM), the programmatic accreditor. Parker University is one of a select group of programs acting as early adaptors of the latest enhanced curriculum requirements and accreditation standards to lead HIM into a new era of education.
As an early adaptor of the CAHIIM 2026 Health Information Management Accreditation Standards, Parker University will showcase innovative approaches to HIM education and continue to enhance the program to support student success.
The CAHIIM Future Education model promotes experiential learning through students’ engagement in project work and authentic and real-life experiences throughout the program. Experiential learning offers numerous benefits, including enhanced engagement and improved knowledge retention. Through experiential learning, formative assessments, and received feedback, students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills and can increase confidence and self-efficacy.
Throughout the program, students’ performance or level of competence is tracked, offering enhanced student engagement and assessment of mastery of knowledge, skills, and judgment.
Through its engagement, CAHIIM will collect outcome data and students, faculty, and practice supervisor feedback to determine what aspects of the program may lead to improved learning outcomes and a more engaging and effective educational experience.
