Parker University Alumni Association Appoints New Board Member and Executive Leadership

DALLAS, August 14, 2014 – The Parker University Alumni Association announced the reelection of its president, along with the appointment of a new Executive Committee and Board member. The Executive Committee will serve a one-year term and the elected Board members will each serve three-year terms beginning September 1, 2014.

Steve Brooks, DC ’99, was reelected president of the Parker Alumni Association; Beau Hightower, DC ’11, was reelected to the Board and elected vice president; Ronald Wells, DC ’95, was elected treasurer; and Scott Phillips, DC ’09, was elected to serve as a Board member.

“They have a true desire to support their fellow graduates,” said Donna Wald, director of alumni relations at Parker University. “We’re grateful to have such dedicated alumni that are willing to devote their time to ensure the alumni association has an impact on its graduates.”

Dr. Steve Brooks practices at Sunset Chiropractic in San Angelo, Texas. Recipient of San Angelo’s Favorite Chiropractor from 2003-14, he specializes in golf fitness. He serves on numerous local and national boards, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Boys and Girls Clubs. He co-authored The Healthy Alternative in 2008, and also holds a seat on the Parker University Board of Trustees.

Dr. Beau Hightower practices at Elite Ortho-Therapy and Sports Medicine in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He serves as an official physician for USA Track & Field, the governing body for United States track and field. He is the team doctor for Jackson’s MMA, one of the premier mixed martial arts training camps in the world, and has previously served as the ringside physician for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion. Dr. Hightower also serves on the Board of Directors for the Mariposa Network, a nonprofit that supports research on traumatic brain injury. Prior to his selection as Vice President, he served as Treasurer of the Parker University Alumni Association.

Dr. Ronald Wells is a professor at Parker University’s College of Chiropractic. He was the 2012-13 recipient of the Academic Faculty of the Year, and has received the Outstanding Instructor Award from more than 10 graduating classes in Parker’s College of Chiropractic. Dr. Wells earned his Doctor of Chiropractic, Bachelor of Human Anatomy, and certification in Chiropractic Clinical Neurology from Parker University. He is a Fellow in the Acupuncture Society of America.

Dr. Scott Phillips

Dr. Scott Phillips practices at Lifestyle Chiropractic in Heber City, Utah. He serves on the faculty at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, as a professor of nutrition. He hosts a weekly radio show, “For the Health of It,” on 1340 AM KTMP in Heber City to communicate his passion for wellness throughout his community. Dr. Phillips has recently been recognized for his efforts to promote chiropractic careers for prospective students.
