Parker University student Brittany Dalbert was chosen as a past recipient of the Dallas/Fort Worth Health Information Management Association (HIMA) scholarship. She is a Health Information Management (HIM) student, and this recognition serves as a steppingstone in Brittany’s career!

Brittany wanted to find a school that offered multiple programs (online and in-person) that would help further her education while also being in a great location to various hospitals and clinics. Specifically, in health information, Brittany loved the thought of being the gatekeeper to pertinent medical records and having the ability to help facilitate the safe and secure transfer of information.

She thanks Dr. Joe Lintz, the director of the HIM department at Parker University, who encouraged students to apply for the scholarship. She credits a combination of her academic accomplishments at Parker University and the goals she has set for herself for putting her in the running for the scholarship. “A big part of the scholarship is composed of transcript records, and I can credit my grades to the professors at Parker University who helped me learn and understand new topics and how to apply them in real-life situations. Also, part of the scholarship application provided the chance to detail your future goals. I pride myself in having a plan for the future that includes multiple job scenarios with backup options allowing for changes to be made as I progress,” Brittany shares. “I picture myself being the middleman between the administrative and clinical departments that help streamline information sharing to exceed patients’ needs. Another career goal of mine is to be able to become a mentor to others. I have been blessed to have multiple mentors who have given me the knowledge to succeed, and I hope that I get the chance to do the same for others in the future.”

Congratulations, Brittany! Parker University cannot wait to see what comes next for this hardworking student! To learn more about Parker University’s HIM program, visit parker.edu/landing-parker-university/health-information-management.
