Intramurals and Teams
Parker University also sponsors an intercollegiate program in men’s and women’s basketball. The Parker Patriots annually compete against area colleges and universities like Texas Wesleyan University, Southwestern Adventist University, Dallas Christian College, Mountain View College, Cedar Valley College and Arlington Baptist College – eagerly taking on all challenges on the hardwoods.
Intramural programs include basketball, softball, and volleyball. The recreation program also assists in the sponsorship of the popular club teams in biking, rugby, men’s and women’s soccer, flag football, swimming, and ice hockey.
Those who desire a more competitive environment can represent Parker University in the annual Chiro Games. For 27 years, the Chiro Games has featured chiropractic colleges from throughout the U.S. and Canada competing in 15 sports for the right to win the highly sought-after Chiro Games Traveling Trophy. Parker University is the most successful school in the history of the Chiro Games, having won the overall championship 15 times (including the previous three years and 10 of the last 13 years). Sports at the Chiro Games include: flag football, tennis, ice hockey, beach volleyball, swimming, softball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, table tennis, distance running and Ultimate Frisbee. Last year, in Cocoa Beach, Florida, Parker claimed medals in every sport the Patriots entered, including gold in women’s golf, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, table tennis and distance running. Parker also collected silver medals in men’s basketball, flag football, swimming, tennis and men’s golf, and the bronze medal in women’s basketball, softball and beach volleyball. The 118 points compiled by Parker was the largest point total in the history of the games.
