DEPARTMENT: AA Radiologic Technology Program



STATUS: Exempt


            EDUCATIONS/EXPERTISE: B.S. degree or higher (preferably in radiologic sciences, education or a health related profession) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification as a registered technologist in radiography, in good standing. A minimum of 2 years clinical experience as a radiologic technologist. A minimum of 2 year experience as an instructor in a JRCERT or regionally accredited educational program in radiologic technology as a faculty member or clinical instructor.

            PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to stand or sit for up to eight (8) hours per day and lift twelve (12) pounds.

            JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/ETC.: ARRT post primary certifications (CT, MRI, CI, VI, Mammography, BD) highly preferred. Experience in course / curriculum development, design, outcomes assessment and evaluation, and academic advisement highly preferred. Experience in successfully teaching two or more of the following courses: radiographic procedures, radiographic imaging, radiation physics, radiation protection and biology, and radiographic pathology. Previous programmatic accreditation experience highly preferred.


Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Coordinates, implements and evaluates the clinical education component of the curriculum; (i.e. initiate and maintain clinical affiliate contracts, student clinical rotation placement, clinical affiliate visits and evaluations)
  • Assists with the development and assessment of the clinical education component of the radiography program with the Program Director to ensure excellent and effective program operation
  • Ensures the clinical education component of the program is always in compliance with JRCERT, SACS, TJC or other regulatory agency requirements
  • Teach assigned didactic courses to accommodate diverse student needs
  • Correlates clinical education with didactic education
  • Participates in student recruitment and advisement
  • Aids in the development of curricula, including individual course syllabi as assigned
  • Provides student evaluation and discipline as necessary
  • Designs and maintains an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success
  • Maintains student attendance records
  • Evaluates student performance and learning
  • Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback to students
  • Assigns grades consistent with course requirements
  • Conducts regular clinical instructor meetings
  • Provides clinical instructor training (as needed)
  • Communicates programmatic and affiliate changes to all stakeholders
  • Acts as a liaison between the educational program in radiologic technology and all clinical affiliates
