International Conference on Chiropractic Research Original Article - First Prize

A team of researchers from the Parker Research Institute led by Dr. Xue-Jun Song claimed first place for the best scientific paper at the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC) Eighth Biennial Congress. Team members assisting with the research include Mr. Qiang Gan, Dr. Jun-li Cao, Dr. Zheng-bei Wang, and Dr. Ronald L. Rupert, Dean of the Parker Research Institute.

"Spinal Manipulation Reduces Pain and Hyperalgesia Produced by Lumbar Intervertebral Foramen Inflammation in the Rat" (J Manipulative Physiological Therapeutics, in press) received The Scott Haldeman Award, the first prize in the International Conferences on Chiropractic Research administrated by the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research at the Eighth World Federation of Chiropractic Biennial Congress, Sydney, Australia, June 16-18, 2005.

Texas Cardiovascular Health Promotion Award

An Honorable Mention was awarded to the Parker Research Institute for "Ask Me About Smoke Free" campaign by the Texas Council on Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke, Texas Department of Health, 2006.

Research from Dr. Song's group has been recognized by the American Physiological Society and reported or cited in dozens of media. Below are links to some selected related releases.

Another project regarding Ryk-mediated Wnt repulsion regulates posterior-directed growth of corticospinal tract published in Nature Neuroscience (2005, collaborated with Dr. Zou at University of Chicago) has been reported by many public media such as Medscape Today(webmd), Biology News, myDNA, Medical News Today, etc.
