Parker clinic faculty instructors are licensed doctors of chiropractic who oversee and assist with the patient care provided by the Parker University College of Chiropractic interns. The clinic doctors ensure the interns provide the very best of chiropractic care to their patients.

 

Patrick BodnarPatrick Bodnar, DC
Director of Clinics

Dr. Patrick Bodnar is a chiropractor and educator with a special interest in advanced functional assessment protocols, innovative rehab techniques, and performance-related clinical exercise. He has refined his clinical focus to care for patients with headaches, neck and back pain, balance and mobility deficiencies, sports specific injuries, and certain neurological deficits as well as those interested in proactive care such athletic performance, biomechanical support for pregnancy, functional fitness, and general wellbeing.

In 2005, he was invited to join Parker University College of Chiropractic and in 2011 was appointed as the director of clinics.

Dr. Bodnar continues to lecture on a variety of topics and has presented seminar-based and continuing education material throughout the United States and in Canada.

Dr. Bodnar has received many awards and honors from Parker University's student body, a commendation from the Council on Chiropractic Education Commission of Accreditation for his work in treatment plan documentation, and in 2009 he received Chiropractor of the Year award from Parker Seminars/Parker University, and Alumni of the Year from the Parker Alumni Association.

Lovonne BeairdLovonne L. Beaird, DC
Associate Professor

Dr. Beaird joined the ranks of the faculty of Parker in 1992. She taught in the classroom, leading the courses for Clinical Neurology and OB/GYN as her primary charges. In 1998, Dr. Beaird transitioned to be a clinic faculty doctor to become actively involved in the care of the patient's in the clinic. She has received the Clinic Faculty of the Year Award two times in her tenure at Parker. Dr. Beaird has been actively involved in many campus committees and tirelessly labors to help students become astute doctors of chiropractic. She has served the Faculty Senate in various capacities over the years, including as: both an academic and clinic rep, vice president and the upcoming president of the executive council of the Faculty Senate. She chaired the committee for the clinics for the past reaccreditation from SACS.

Prior to coming to Parker University, she taught chemistry at Colby College in Kansas for over six years. Dr. Beaird earned her doctorate of chiropractic degree at Parker in 1989. Following earning her degree, she enjoyed associating with several clinics as a practicing doctor before owning her own private practice. Her interest and passion is total wellness through chiropractic.

Dr. Beaird maintains her advanced rating in activator. She continues to enhance her education and knowledge through various post graduate studies including completing the course for the Diplomate in Neurology and Pediatrics; completing the advanced studies in CCN, and just lacking two modules for the sports physician certification course.

She was named in the "Who's Who of Young Professional Women". She has been a member of numerous professional associations including: American Chiropractic Association, International Chiropractic Association, World Congress of Women Chiropractors, Association of History of Chiropractors, and the Parker Alumni Association where she served as president.

Patti CatesPatti Cates, DC, Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinic - Dallas
Associate Professor

Dr. Patti Cates is a practicing chiropractor, and clinic faculty doctor at Parker University Chiropractic Wellness Clinics. Dr. Cates has 17 years of clinical experience, a Fellowship in Acupuncture, and is dedicated to her patients and university interns to heal through a whole-body approach. She specializes in adjustments to remove nerve interference and restore energy flow, enabling the body to mend itself. She is passionate about using a hands-on approach combining soft tissue mobilization (myofascial work) along with manipulation to enhance the daily functions of her patients.

Dr. Cates maintains a private practice within a local orthopedic group, and works full time in the Parker University Chiropractic Wellness Clinics. She loves the cutting-edge equipment, and being involved in the clinical learning experience that the interns of Parker University receive during the final chapter of their education. Dr. Cates has a special interest in treating young athletes and is directly involved with local high school athletic departments.

Dr. Cates joined the Parker University team in 2007, working in a student clinical setting and then directing the operations of a community-based Parker University center. Over the past five years, Dr. Cates has received several awards, but her most cherished is the Outstanding Clinic Faculty Member Award in 2009 presented to her by the student body of Parker University.

Adela HernandezAdela Hernandez, DC, Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinic - Dallas
Associate Professor

Dr. Adela Hernandez, a native Texan, obtained her Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree in 2009 from Parker University in Dallas, TX. Along with her Doctorate degree, she has also earned a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness from Parker University, a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and an Associate of Science in General Studies from Midland College. Dr. Hernandez has an extensive history in various aspects of the medical field beginning with a phlebotomy certificate in 1994. Dr. Hernandez became interested in Chiropractic following injuries acquired while participating in High School sports.

In addition to chiropractic, Dr. Hernandez also offers Acupuncture treatments. It is her belief that when the entire body is treated and supplied appropriately, it has the ability to heal itself. She accomplishes this through the proper alignment of the spinal vertebrae and extremities to allow optimal nervous system function and through Acupuncture leading to optimal energy flow (Qi) within the body.

Dr. T. Keith JohnsonDr. T. Keith Johnson, Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinic - Irving
Associate Professor

Dr. Keith Johnson is an assistant professor and clinic doctor at Parker University. Dr. Johnson, a native Texan, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Chemistry from the University of North Texas in 1978. Dr. Johnson was a Registered Cardiovascular and Cardiopulmonary technologist prior to earning his doctorate from Parker University College of Chiropractic in 1986.

Upon graduating from Parker University, Dr. Johnson entered private practice in the Lewisville/Flower Mound, Texas area. He had a family practice where he enjoyed helping his patients, both adults and children, achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle. In 2008, Dr. Johnson joined the Parker University Wellness Clinics team of doctors where he utilizes his practice experience to help future doctors of chiropractic develop and hone the skills needed to help their patients and to succeed in their chiropractic careers. Dr. Johnson is presently practicing at Parker University Chiropractic Wellness Clinics in Irving, Texas. He has also been involved in both the ACA and TCA Professional Associations for most of his career.

Dr. Johnson has a special interest in families, spinal reconstructive care, sports injury, Kinesio Tape, myofascial therapy, as well as muscle balancing neuromuscular re-education exercises to improve both athletic and daily lifestyle performance.

Troy LimingTroy H. Liming, DC, CCCN, Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinic - Dallas
Associate Professor

Dr. Troy Liming is an experienced chiropractor and educator with a special interest in helping athletes with sports specific injuries as well as improving athletic performance. He utilizes and incorporates his knowledge of functional movement assessment and innovative rehabilitation for all of his patients whether or not they are athletes, resulting in excellent outcomes.

He is a Certified Chiropractic Clinical Neurologist and enjoys incorporating functional neurological methods to enhance successful outcomes for a variety of neuro-musculoskeletal disorders. He is also a certified Interactive Metronome provider, which allows him to utilize techniques to enhance athletic performance and improve deficits created by a number of neurological disorders. Dr. Liming enjoys incorporating his extensive continuing education in myofascial release techniques and kinesiology taping techniques to enhance both athletic performance and patient outcomes.

Dr. Liming currently utilizes the disc force decompression table, a conservative approach to spinal disc displacement. This, along with chiropractic, functional movement assessment, and innovative rehabilitation protocols has given numerous patients the opportunity to experience symptom relief.

Dr. Liming graduated from Northwestern University College of Chiropractic where he received a Bachelor of Science degree and Doctorate of Chiropractic. While in private practice, he was invited to join Parker University College of Chiropractic as an assistant professor teaching clinical application and chiropractic technique. He has since been promoted to associate professor and is currently a clinic faculty director at Parker University Chiropractic Wellness Clinics. He has received numerous awards and honors from the student body and faculty, including being named Faculty of the Year by both his peers and student body.

John MarthJohn Marth, DC, Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinic - Dallas
Associate Professor

Dr. John Marth is a clinic faculty doctor at Parker University Chiropractic Wellness Clinics. Dr. Marth was born and raised in Long Island, NY, and received his doctorate in 1985 from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. His postgraduate work included working as an associate doctor in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. He also worked as a spinal screener for 12 clinics in the DFW area and as an associate doctor in Garland, Texas. In 1988, Dr. Marth started and ran a successful clinic in DeSoto, Texas, until selling it in 2008. In 2006, he became a clinic faculty doctor at Parker University Chiropractic Wellness Clinics.

Dr. Marth brings several years of knowledge and experience in which he is constantly striving to learn the latest breakthroughs in health and chiropractic to better serve his patients and students.

Stephen Paterno Stephen Paterno, DC, Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinic – Dallas
Associate Professor

Dr. Paterno is an experienced educator and clinic faculty chiropractor at Parker University Chiropractic Wellness Clinics. Before moving to Texas, Dr. Paterno attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida. He then moved to his home state of Pennsylvania to set up his clinics and teach. Having lectured on many subjects, from Microbiology, to A&P, to Wine and Cheese Science, he's dedicated to helping students learn the science and master the art of Chiropractic.

Dr. Paterno's clinics focused on family health and wellness, with an emphasis on athletes looking to relieve pain, recover more quickly, and enhance performance. His total-body approach utilizes traditional chiropractic adjustments coupled with active stretching, muscle work like ART and Gua Sua, pain relief, and rehabilitative exercises.

Dr. Paterno joined the outstanding team at Parker in 2012, and jumped at the opportunity to share his experience and enthusiasm for health care with the students during their final year of chiropractic school.

Eric PearceEric Pearce, DC, Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinic - Dallas
Associate Professor

Dr. Eric Pearce is a chiropractor and expert in sports injuries, myofascial release, rehab protocols, and kinesio taping. He has vast knowledge in treating neck and back pain, headaches, and upper and lower extremities conditions. He volunteers his time at Susan G Komen and taping seminars, and enjoys attending international trips where he focuses his work on elite athletes.

Dr. Pearce was born and raised in Atwood, KS where he was a part of three state championships in football, wrestling, and track. He has worked with Parker University College of Chiropractic as a clinic faculty director at the Chiropractic Wellness Clinics for more than six years. He oversees 15 interns and their patients while continuing to educate himself on new treatment protocols and advances in technology.

Mike RaperMike Raper, DC, DABCO, DAAPM, DABFE, DABDA, DCP
Professor
After graduating from Parker College of Chiropractic in 1987, Dr. Raper entered immediately into private practice and also pursued post-graduate training for his diplomate in Chiropractic Orthopedics. He started Impairment Rating Consultants in 1990, and has since been performing impairment ratings, second opinion evaluations, and expert court witnessing in the state of Texas. He started his own impairment rating seminar series in conjunction with the Texas Chiropractic Association. He has also performed seminars for Texas Chiropractic College, Parker College of Chiropractic, Texas Council of Chiropractic Orthopedics, Northwestern Health Sciences University, and Palmer College of Chiropractic. He was a consultant for the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners, and the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners hired Dr. Raper to be a consultant to help administer the Part IV Examination. He's presently on the Board of Directors for the Texas Chiropractic Association, District 5, and president for the Dallas County Chiropractic Society. He is also a member of: American Association of Integrative Medicine, American College of Forensic Examiners, National Board of Forensic Chiropractors, Council on Chiropractic Orthopedics, Parker Alumni Association, and American Chiropractic Association. Dr. Raper worked for Parker College of Chiropractic from 1992 to 1998 and again from 2005 to the present, as the director of the Student Chiropractic Wellness Clinic, and member of the Compliance and Assessment team. He also has chaired numerous committees and is a full professor in rank. Dr. Raper is licensed in Texas, Oklahoma, and Nevada.

Leon TomLeon Tom, BS, DC, CCSP, DAAPM, Director, Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinic - Irving
Associate Professor

Dr. Tom was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. He obtained his BS in Mathematics in 1995 from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. He graduated from Parker University College of Chiropractic in 1999 and served the community of North Texas for 6 years before joining the Parker faculty in 2005, where he is currently an associate professor of clinics and the clinic faculty director for Parker University Chiropractic Wellness Clinics in Irving, Texas.

In 2001, Dr. Tom became a Certified Chiropractic Sports Practitioner, and is also certified in acupuncture (1999). In 2004 he obtained a Diplomat from the American Academy of Pain Management. His area of specialty includes the treatment of soft tissue injuries with Kinesiology Tape, manual therapies, rehabilitation, and chiropractic care.

Dr. Doug SanfordDoug Sanford, DC, BA, CCSP, MCS-P, CCCPC, Director of Compliance and Operations - Dallas
Dr. Sanford earned a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Texas Chiropractic College in 1990. He was an associate doctor in Houston before starting a private practice in Corpus Christi, where he was a Designated Doctor and participated in Leadership Corpus Christi. He joined Parker Chiropractic College in 1995 where he served as a Clinic Faculty Doctor and gradually transitioned to course lead for Internship I, II, and III. He later served as chairperson of Clinical Studies and Applications and also served on the Curriculum Committee.

Dr. Sanford joined the corporate world in 2000 and was mobilized into the United States Army in 2003. He retired as a Colonel in 2008. He returned to Parker College of Chiropractic as a Clinic Faculty Doctor in 2008 and in 2010 was selected to be the Director of Compliance and Operations (DCO) for Clinics.

As the DCO, Dr. Sanford is responsible for clinic operations, facilities and equipment. He is also responsible for clinic documentation, coding, billing, insurance and government compliance and imparting those skill sets to interns during their one year clinic practicum. He coordinates and is the lead instructor for Clinic Orientation preparing new interns to earn full clinic privileges allowing them to treat patients under a doctor’s direct supervision. He also contributes to the University’s accreditation process with the Council of Chiropractic Education.

Dr. Sanford is a certified Chiropractic Sports Physician, Medical Compliance Specialist – Physical and Professional Coder. He is co-course director for Internship Practicum I and guest speaker for Internship Practicum II. He is an instructor for Parker University’s Post Graduate Education department where he presents Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners mandatory relicensing of continuing education material in Medicare, Ethics, Risk Management, Documentation, and Coding and Billing. He is a member of the American Chiropractic Association and Texas Chiropractic Association.

David WaltersDavid G. Walters, DC, DACRB, CES, Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinic - Dallas
Professor

Dr. Walters received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Parker University College of Chiropractic in 1991. He began his dedicated service to Parker in 1996 and is currently serving as a clinic faculty director at Parker University Chiropractic Wellness Clinics. Dr. Walters has received his diplomat in Chiropractic Rehabilitation and a specialist certification in Corrective Exercise from the National Association of Sports Medicine. He is also a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician as well as a Kinesio Tape and Functional Kinetic Treatment practitioner.

In addition to working at Parker University, he owned and maintained a private practice in Irving, TX from 1994 until 2010. Dr. Walters is an active member of the American Chiropractic College of Rehabilitative Science. His annual recertification of his diplomat in rehabilitation allows him to stay current with issues and topics associated with functional rehabilitation and performance.

Dr WuBlake Wu, DC, Parker Chiropractic Wellness Clinic – Dallas
Associate Professor

Dr. Wu received his undergraduate education from the University of Toronto where he earned a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education. He continued his education at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) in 2009. In addition to his chiropractic training, Dr. Wu is also fully certified in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture through McMaster University and has attended several sport specific techniques such as Active Release Therapy (ART), K-Tape, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Functional Movement Systems, and strength and conditioning seminars. He is a member of the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), the Canadian Chiropractic Association (CCA), the Ontario Kinesiology Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

As a licensed chiropractor, Dr. Wu specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of conditions and disorders relating to the skeletal, nervous, and muscular systems. He believes firmly in the overall functional movement of the human body and treating the source of the problem rather than the symptoms alone. Dr. Wu believes that education and proper communication is imperative to patient care. When people understand why their pain or dysfunction is occurring, it enables them to make the changes necessary to correct the problem at hand.
